How important?

So I'm trying to decide on if I want to buy a white noise machine for my son before he gets here but not sure. How many already parents think this is a nessissary item to have?

Answer

I think it's nice to have a small fan (especially for our summer babies....plus it's good for babies to have circulating air) and that will provide some white noise. But I know people who got white noise machines for their babies and used them and ended up with babies and toddlers that could ONLY sleep with their machine on. Not what you want to end up with. Good to let baby adjust to the natural noises if their environment while they sleep.
