Question about preclampsia?

On Mother's Day my grandmother and mom and I were all talking about labor considering I am about to be 36 weeks. My grandma developed preclampsia with her first and was induced around 37 weeks. My mother also got preclampsia with her first but made it past her due date and was induced at 40 weeks and 3 days. My question is how likely is it that I will also get it? Any first time moms get it? What were your symptoms? And how far along were you?

Family history is a risk factor, as well as being overweight, age, multiples, ftm and autoimmune disease as well as other things. If you have normal blood pressure and no signs you shouldn't worry.

At 36 weeks you're pretty far along to get it now I would think. It can happen suddenly but most people start showing symptoms before that.

I have no family history of it and I developed it in my first pregnancy. I had her at 32 weeks via emergency c-section. My whole body swelled, my blood pressure sky rocketed and there was a ton of protein in my pee. My daughter is now almost 4 years old and doing awesome! I'm currently 11 weeks with my second and so far so good. Hopefully this one won't be coming early but there's no guarantee of anything.

Family history is part of it. I mostly don't have symptoms. The doctors do a quick dip of your urine at each visit, and they're looking for protein, which is one symptom. They do blood pressure readings, too, which is another symptom. Other symptoms are bad headaches that aren't controlled with Tylenol, swelling in your hands and face, pain in the upper right quadrant of your belly, and visual disturbances. But you can have it without symptoms.
