Midwife won't listen to me! (Sort of TMI topic)
During my last appointment, I had asked about possible STI's, mainly trichomoniasis because I had been getting greenish discharge for a while. Whenever you google 'green discharge', that's the one that keeps coming up. Since it's not common in Canada, she blew me off and wouldn't test for it. Had that "I'm right and you don't know what you're talking about" attitude. Tested for yeast and BV instead, and the yeast came back positive, which I already knew I had and was currently treating. She said that generally green discharge comes from either chlamydia or gonahrea, and since I had tested negative for those on my initial screening, she wasn't concerned and that "she had seen all sorts of funky coloured discharge during people's pregnancies".
Two weeks later, I went into premature labour, contracting every two-five minutes. I spent the night in the hospital to stop it, and they found out I had a small UTI, which is what they blamed. I feel like something that small wouldn't have been enough to start contractions like that, but again, I was not tested for anything else. I'm hesitant to bring it up to them again because of how they treated me for it the first time I asked, but I feel that there's more than just yeast going on in there! I've been treating myself for yeast for the last two weeks with probiotics and canestin but it doesn't get better.
It says online that trich is one of the most common STI's in the states, and my husband used to live right by the boarder in Ontario. Since it's not as common in Canada, they don't test for it unless specifically requested, so neither of us have ever been checked for it. I could be wrong, and it could just be yeast (I have GD so the high blood sugars are likely contributing to reoccurring infections), but I'm a little frustrated anyways that they won't just listen to me and check! What do I do?
