Everyone on this app is biased towards hospital birth. My recommendation is do as much research as possible. Including maternal and infant death rates, c-section rates, intervention rates, watch documentaries ("The Business of Being Born" and "Pregnant in America"), Read books, just take in as much info as you can find and decide for yourself. Everyone on this app thinks they will die if they give birth anywhere but a hospital. But the reality of it is that hospitals and doctors are the cause of most interventions, c-sections and maternal and infant death. Just do your research and figure out what's best for you.

If I could I would do it in the wilderness. Kind of risky, but hey, birth in itself is risky wherever you may be. I saw a YouTube video of this hippie lady giving birth in a creek in the middle of the wilderness. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever watched. I believe the father and midwife were there as well as another child to witness it and help. I guess that's as natural as it gets!

I'm planning for a hospital birth, but I'm not thrilled about it. I delivered in a hospital with my first child. I would LOVE a home birth but where I live, there are no midwives close that do home births. We also don't have a birthing center. The closest thing I could find was a certified nurse midwife practicing with a hospital. I love my CNW, I just hate that hospitals don't allow you to move naturally and that they routinely push interventions in you. I delivered naturally with no meds, but my CNM did an episiotomy. And then they gave me some pill to make sure I didn't bleed extensively as soon as my baby was out. I don't remember what it was but it gave me a fever and I was super shaky while trying to hold my newborn.

Hospital for me. Pregnancy complications seem to be a must in my family... Lbvs. I also don't deal with pain well and will pass out so need an epidural. I also don't want to risk my life or my child's life if there were to be a complication and needed an emergency c section..

Hospital. I would never risk my life or my baby's to feel more comfortable at home. Yes people have been giving birth at for centuries but since hospitals and obgyn's came around the mortality rate has dropped. Obviously things can go wrong in a hospital setting but at least I know I'm giving my child a fighting chance. Every story you here about baby's dying at home could have been prevented had they been in a hospital.

Currently TTC and if possible I would like to give birth at a birthing center within the hospital if possible. I never thought of the idea let alone even knew they had facilities like these until I watched Ricki lake's documentaries on the birthing industry and I just fell in love with the idea of being able to have a simulated home birth (water birth for me!) But close enough for doctors to intervene if need be.

I have had all my babies in a hospital and will with my next one also. My oldest son was born with paralyzed vocal cords...my ob did not know this as it did not show on ultrasounds and he could not breathe...he was turning blue! He had to be intibated and flown to a children's hospital where my boy had multiple surgeries...if it was a home birth he would have died.

My insurance does not cover midwifes and there are no birthing centers currently in Rhode Island! So I will be having my baby at the hospital. Had both my previous kids at hospitals with no complications.
