Marching Band and Periods don't mix

Dixie
Hi, I'm a young lady who just happens to play a trumpet in the Haralson County Rebel Marching Band. My
eriod can be irregular at times, so sometimes I have no idea when my period is arriving. I have been in marching band for a year now, and being on my period during practice, a football game, competition, or even a parade is complete hell. For one, pads aren't even in the idea, seeing as marching can cause your pad to be squeezed together and pushed aside. So, tampons are my go to. But, even if I'm using those, I don't get to change them as often as I need to. Second, it is usually always really hot and humid, and being on my period during that makes me nauseous, have even more acne, and I sweat more. Also, if I am in uniform, it is very difficult to change my tampon in the restroom. My tips are to always have a small bag to hold your tampons in, make sure you notify someone like the drum major, your band director, or even your section leader that you may need more restroom breaks during your period. Also, DONT GO INTO COMPETITION if you know that you need to change your tampon THAT second. This is because you'll just bleed all over your uniform while performing, and that is just a lot of embarrassment and a whole lot of money to clean that uniform. I wish you luck my fellow lady marchers!
