When would you tell work youre pregnant if you work around radiation

I work in a cath lab which is a procedural area where I am regularly around radiation. We get led vests and skirts to wear, so I am not sure if I want to tell work before I know if the pregnancy is viable, but I'd obviously like to stay out in our holding area or behind the led glass monitoring the case. Just wondered if anyone had gone through something similar and what their experience was.

I would tell your boss only and if collegues ask why your not out just say im currently on light duty. If they ask if everythings alright just say its only as a precaution. I work as a dr paramedic and also cover AE and theatre nursing shifts i told work imediately because of the nature of the job with heavy lifting, abusive patients sadly but true, and being around contagious illnesses such as whooping cough, chicken pox etc. I am now off duty and wont be returning to baby is here and maternity is finished. I didnt plan to finish work so early but they've agreed its best especially that im a high risk pregnancy. My work are paying me for 7.5mths normol pay for light duty. Then maternity pay kicks in which is fab as they needn't of paid this and only covered maternity if anything or sick pay.

You need to tell them to get the fetal TLD badge. I told my boss when I was 4 weeks. I asked him to keep it on the hush hush and he did.
