FTM .. How challenging can it really be?
I kind of love this topic. I come across it now and again and I'm always interested to see what people chime in with. I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant with my "rainbow" baby (not a term we use, but you all know what that means here.) I'm basically a permanent nester. I am constantly changing things up in my home. I'm super clean, and even on my worst days I'm very tidy. I have a schedule for everything.
I recently came across another topic where women were saying "I don't think I'll have time to even do such and such." Weather it's keeping up with their hair, nails, etc. Little things. It got me thinking about my favorite topic yet again! How hard can it be? I myself am curious to see how I'll turn out as a mom. Will a sink full of dishes grind my gears? Will I still fold towels better than Bed Bath and Beyond associates? Will the house be vacuumed every day? I'm truly curious to see how things will change or if they even will!
Part of why I'm so curious about my own life style changes after baby is born is because I'm a Nanny by profession. My job is to have seamless schedules that allow for dishes, laundry, organizing, feeding/meals, naps, errands, after school activities, everything done in a timely manner. I currently care for a 2 year old and almost 4 month old. It's a tough job and some days go astray, but over all I accomplish A LOT. And, I still have quite a bit of down time to myself. I've been working in childcare for 6 years professionally and about 12 years total. I think multi-tasking and accomplishing a lot is pretty second nature to me! I'm interested to see if I'll be able to maintain a healthy schedule while I'm on maternity leave and even after I return to work. I honestly just can't imagine only having one baby at home will be *that* hard!
I'd love to hear some thoughts from moms and/or dads (no ones getting left out here) about how life changed, some sacrifices you've made, anything really.
Please remember that I'm well aware all babies are VERY different. If you get a calm, sleepy baby over a colicky baby, circumstances change. We also aren't here to judge what others do and no one here is any better than the next. This is all just based on my wandering mind!
