What do you think about quitting your job early on in pregnancy?

I quit my job recently (I'm only 15 weeks). It was a fast pace job and I had to work 13+ hour shifts with no breaks, and I really hated it. My SO is supportive and wants me to focus on myself and the baby. However this is day 1 of being at home and I have no idea what to do or what I'm going to do for the rest of the pregnancies. Are there any other moms on here who don't work?

I quit my job in January due to being treated poorly in the workplace and they wouldn't change my schedule to accommodate my school schedule. I was a department manager for Walmart. I found out a week later that I was pregnant but even so early on I was floored with sickness whether it was morning sickness or constant colds and sinus infections, it was terrible. When I started feelin better I started applying for jobs and got a few call backs but all for managerial positions which I couldn't stand to do since I was already about 16 weeks by the time they all called back, not one place called for a regular or low impact position so I basically gave up looking around 20 weeks since I was really starting to show by then. I'm now 25 weeks and still not working but my boyfriend has been my rock this whole time, yes he's stressed about being the main supporter right now but he knows I'm a worker and I'd love to have a part time job but it's just not feasible for us at this point so he's basically told me to just stay home and rest (besides I'm high risk anyway) and I definitely plan on returning to work as soon as I can after the baby's here since my boyfriends work slows down drastically in the winter

I had an awful high stress job that I quit and the month after quitting I got pregnant. We had been trying for 10 months so who knows if the stress attributed to our issues conceiving. I looked for a job for a long time but the market sucks in my field right now and nothing ever came of any interviews. Then I started showing and it was even more difficult. So eventually I made the decision to just stay home with the baby and at this point (31 weeks) it makes no sense to go to work for two months then quit. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for me though because I had some unforeseen complications with blood pressure and am being watched for preeclampsia. In the past two weeks alone I've had 3 doctors appointments, 1 of which was 3 hours long because of a sudden bp spike that required unexpected bloodwork, a growth scan and an NST before I could leave. I was so thankful to not have to worry about getting back to work and just being able to stay at the dr as long as I needed to make sure my baby was okay. I am doing weekly NSTs now and I imagine my appts will be close together even though I'm technically not high risk, or at least not yet. I can only imagine the bp issues I wouls have if I still worked at my old office. I feel guilt sometimes and I would rather work but as I get closer I'm actually looking forward to being with my baby all the time and it's nice to just rest while having all these complications.

Wish I could quit but I would feel guilty with only my husband contributing. 😦 I work in a nursing home and it's really hard on my body to lift and stay on my feet. So I'm just trying to work 2-3 days a week.

Was there no way for them to cut your hours or put you on light duty? Personally,  I don't think I could stay home even if we could afford it especially BEFORE baby is even here. Maybe try to pick up a part time job or join a meetup group.

I quit my job at about 9 weeks. I felt really guilty at first only relying on my husband's income but I'm getting myself to realize right now my job is staying healthy and growing our child. I babysit here and there for extra money. I give props to the moms out there who worked their entire pregnancy, there's no way I could have done it.

I quit working around 14 weeks, actually, I was fired for calling in so much and not having the sick time to cover it. I was working as a night cashier at Walmart and as soon as I let management know I was pregnant I was treated terribly. And I had horrible nausea and exhaustion throughout my whole first trimester. I actually took a month LOA before returning to work and getting fired a month later. My BD was actually encouraging me to just quit before I ended up getting fired cause I was pretty miserable. Even now at 29 weeks I'm still exhausted most the time and get frequent headaches. I feel bad being home all day everyday cause I feel lazy cause I rarely get much done that's productive. But my BD knows pregnancy is hard and is so loving and supportive.

You could always find a low street easy job and quit it when u have the baby

When I was pregnant I worked as much as I could because I was planning to stay home after he was born. I got a doctors note to be able to sit for 10 min or so when needed. Was on my feet and running around all the time. As long as I didn't have to do heavy lifting and ate when I needed I was fine. I would've gone crazy staying home before the baby was born. I got bored just waiting for my husband to get home sometimes. Now that the baby's born it's non stop. I always have something to do and if not I take advantage and spend time with the baby. Being a stay at home mom is great

I personally think staying home with your kids is the best investment you can make. It can be tough financially and a little hum drum somedays, but you'll never regret it. 
It gets easier the longer you do it. You make friends and do all the "mom things" like cook, clean, errands and cupcakes for the class parties. 
I've been home for 15 years only working very flexible jobs once the kiddos were in school. (Babysitting, etc) 
It's really nice when they're teenagers.
