Sickle Cell??? Discussing health with family???

Do you think it's important to let your family know about your health, I met my father about 4yrs ago I was told prior to that another guy was my dad only to find out through my own research my father was someone else. So fast forward to now I would say my biological father and I have a great relationship. So to make a long story short, I had some blood work done to find out I have the sickle cell trait. After doing some reading in order for you to have the trait you would have to have inherited from one of your parents. Texted my dad today to only find out he has the trait. My husband expressed that should've been something he should have mentioned because it can be passed down and also it plays a big part in knowing what may be genetic and now it explains a lot with certain symptoms I have, what is your guys thoughts?
