Newborn sleeping arrangements

I was wondering what most moms do for sleeping arrangements for your baby in the beginning. Should I buy a bassinet, rock n play, or pack in play with bassinet? I originally had a halo bassinet on my registry but so many people said it was a waste so I took it off. I don't like the co-sleeper so I was wondering what would be best. How long should the baby sleep in your room before transitioning to the crib?
