Could you forgive a child molester

Starting this poll because of a topic I saw about a guy forgiving his mother who molested him....I for one can no way in hell forgive one and would never let one near my home...
That being said...they are people...so if someone in your family had been convicted for molesting a child but it happened a LONG time ago and they haven't had a repeat offense would you eventually forgive them and let them around or forever exclude them?
