Vegans Ending World Hunger?

Question

Can someone explain this to me? A friend sent this to me. She's super vegan. I mean the vegan that wears "vegan" t-shirts everywhere vegan. Nothing wrong with that... To each is own. I'll enjoy my steak and you enjoy your stuff. More recently she's been.... Well down your throat with how everyone should be vegan. And this one... Well I don't know. So legitimately curious.... How does brewing vegan end world hunger?

The picture is true. Meat is not sustainable in the slightest, even less sustainable if it's grass-fed, high quality meat (unfortunately). A LOT of resources go into creating just one pound of meat- it's rather sad. I recommend doing some research on it as it is quite fascinating.

And yeah, that photo is true. The more meat, the more land needed, the more water needed for the feed, the more land for the feed, the more energy for slaughter houses, the more energy for transport. Meat is not sustainable to the amount the world is eating today. ✌🍍

Every vegan I know is on supplements to make up for the nutrients they're not getting from meat. Also, every vegan I know except for one couple, is pushy to the point that of being obnoxious about trying to get people to change their food choices. I'll stick with my steak and grilled chicken and bacon and egg bowls.

The idea is that if we used all the land and resources (mainly grain and water) used for animal agriculture for humans we could end world hunger. You should check out this article http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/1997/08/us-could-feed-800-million-people-grain-livestock-eat it's really interesting and informative. It talks about how inefficient animal agriculture is. (this is an old article so I'm sure the numbers are larger now) Another fun (?) fact: more than 50% of water used in the US goes towards animal agriculture. Crazy, right?

Theoretically there is enough grain being used to feed live stock that could feed the world over twice. Meat is very expensive and in most poor countries, they can't afford it, and most of the grain being farmed is for those animals, so it's a lose lose. Unfourtunately, not everyone will ever be vegan, but hey, can't win them all. (Yeah, I'm vegan)

An easier and more effective way to end world hunger is to save the bees. It's hard to change a diet, but it's rather easy to stop poisoning honeybees.

it's true. SO MUCH plant agriculture goes straight to feeding the animals we eat. if we stopped eating meat (and thus feeding those animals so much and with our resources), we could eat what those fields grow instead.

She's right, there's not enough space or resources to keep up with raising enough cattle to feed so many people, and the population is growing

I like meat. I eat a lot of it. That being said, I read a statistic that said that if everyone on the planet gave up eating meat two days a week, we'd free up enough food resources to vastly improve world hunger. I want to say end it, but I can't remember completely what the stat was.  Ever since then, we do two days meatless a week. Monday's and Wednesday's.

She's right, the amount of space we use up rearing meat could feed the world a few times over, we've drastically reduced our meat intake because of concerns about the environment and about unethical farming. We still eat meat just only about once every few weeks. Honestly vegatarian cooking is much nicer anyway, and the quality of the meat we buy is so much better that we really really enjoy it when we do get meat
