Taking care of YOU
OK..this may turn out to be a little bit of a short story lol but worth the read to help you take care of you! That's the most important thing when raising a family. Our families aren't taken care to the best of our abilities if we are not u to par to do so for them.
I had my baby girl on May 6th 2016. 15 hours of labor, she was weighed 7.13, was 19.75 in. Long and healthy all the way around. Me on the other hand...I lost so much blood I almost had to get a blood transfusion! Scary!!
*Fast forward* to about 2 weeks pp. The bleeding I was having had started to turn brown and let u a little around day 10 pp..by day 14 it had came back and was bright red and flowing very consistently. I also started to have some abdominal pain under my rib cage. This was baby #3 for me and I just wasn't feeling right...so Friday (14 days pp) I decide to call my doctor and let her know what's going on with the pain and bleeding. She schedules me for an ultrasound on Monday afternoon (yesterday).
The bleeding didn't get any better or worse over the weekend. So I go in for my appt. And during my ultrasound the tech says "wow, that's a lot of blood! Yea, that's not normal..." so I proceed to go into the waiting room to be seen by the doctor. I get it in a room, get my vitals taken, and wait! About 15-20 mins later my doctor rushes in the room with my chart and my ultrasound pic and says, "what's is this?! What's going on?!" I tell her my symptoms and before I can finish she says to me, "we have to go to the operating room! (Omg!!!*my thoughts*) right now!!"
So I am immediately sent across the street to the hospital for emergency surgery! (A D&C) I left the office around 245 and was in surgery by 430. When I woke u everything was done and I was sore! Thank goodness everything went good and she fixed me!
What happen was that my uterus had started to fill with blood and basically (slowly) stopped working. It got so full of blood that it stopped contracting all together and was basically overflowing, causing me to bleed uncontrollably. My uterus had also moved out of place causing the abdominal pain I was having.
Moral of the story...ladies, please take care of yourselves!! We as mothers always put everyone else first. That's just what we do! But we are not helping anyone if we are not in good shape ourselves. The issue that I had was a very serious one and I was very lucky to have caught it when I did.
