Moving-- apartment apps?

Question

I'm moving to a tiny town in Maine in the Fall. Since the town is so small, I'm having a hard time finding apartments for rent! The major apps I usually use to find housing (apartments.com, hotpads, Zillow, etc) have found nothing near the town.
I'm wondering, what is your favorite app or website or method of finding houses or apartments for rent? I'm willing to get creative!

I am from Maine and I will tell you, it is quite difficult. Maybe look in Uncle Henry's and see if the local newspaper has a website. Most Mainers tend not to advertise on the Internet and everything is done through printed ads and word-of-mouth, especially in the smaller towns. I would say try Craigslist, but even that doesn't get used in Maine like it does everywhere else. Maine is beautiful -- I hope you enjoy it!

Try Craigslist... I've had pretty good luck with that for small towns

I used zillow and craigslist to find apartments. They also now have apartments.com and i think rent.com

My brother has always found apartments up there on craigslist or through word of mouth. Usually unless you're living in a large city you may have to look into the surrounding area.
