Incompetent Cervix

So when I went to my appointment on Monday the nurse who evaluated me stated I may have an incompetent cervix, has anyone ever had this issue and if so can you offer any advice? What is the treatment and how do you move forward? I've done some research myself but I would prefer to actually see a doctor and see if I really do have this condition since there was no actual internal evaluation.
