38 +4 baby soon ?

Question

I had an appointment today and my doc checked my cervix. She said I'm about 1 1/2 cm dilated..does that mean I'm in early labor or anything ? Should I be expecting my baby soon? I'm a ftm I have no clue. I've been crampy all day like back cramps and period cramps, they're constant so the doc said its nothing to worry about I guess..

I was at 1 cm at 35 weeks and then at 37 weeks I was 3 cm. right now I'm 37+2 and baby hasn't arrived yet. You can stay at 3 cm for several weeks or labor can go fast. As a FTM, it will typically go slow. With my first, my water broke at 37 weeks but no contractions so I had to have pitocin. With my 2nd & 3rd, I was induced but when I got to the hospital to have pitocin started I was at 5-1/2 cm with one and 6 cm with the other. I never had regular contractions. This is baby #4 and I'm trying to avoid pitocin.

For first babies, I've heard both... They come early or they come late. My first was early. My mom's first (me) was early. Typically you can go by your mother. If her first was early, chances are yours will be too. It's not always the case though. My best friend's pregnancy went along with her dad's mother and sister.
