Anyone else anemic?

So today I was told I was anemic and my midwife prescribed me some prenatal vitamins with iron, is there anything I should expect or should know?

Yup ferrous glutamate didn't absorb well enough so I switched to desiccated liver instead... if you're taking an iron supplement always take it with food or you'll feel nauseous and if you're also taking synthroid like me; wait at least 2 hrs after taking the synthroid to take your iron cause it affects absorbtion.

You may get costipated, and for some people it makes nausea worse. It's better to not be short of breath and tired always though.

I'm anemic too. I've always been. I'm going to start iron supplements tomorrow. Not looking forward to it, as they make me nauseous.

I have always had a touch of anemia. Makes me cold and more likely to faint. Iron supplements make me incredibly nauseous.

I just started taking an iron supplement, too. I actually take it late in the day, and my prenatal in the morning, because I've read/heard that it digests better that way. Add more leafy greens (and beets?? If I'm remembering correctly) to your diet. Also, stay hydrated! All of the above will help prevent you from having dizzy spells or being extremely fatigued. 
There are varying levels of aenemia, and my midwife told me that your iron level naturally decreases as your pregnancy progresses--so it's definitely important to build it up! (Another random tidbit..it can take about 3 months for your blood work to show the full increase after you start taking the iron.)
