If you could afford to send your child to a private school when they were old enough, would you and why?

My daughter has been in private school since Kindergarten. She will be entering 4th grade this Fall.
I researched and visited approximately 4 public schools in the area before I chose to put her in private school since at the time I was renting and was willing to relocate.
It has become law in the US that all public and private schools teach "Common Core" with the intention of all kids will have the same basic knowledge of reading, math, and science at every grade level. My daughter's school continues their strict advanced curriculum and incorporates Common Core. I highly recommend if you are a first time parent, that you educate yourself about Common Core.
Why do I prefer a private school? My daughter has learned the values of kindness, team work, helping others out, community service, respectfulness, and independence. She writes beautifully in cursive, and says the pledge of allegiance every morning. Her school is religious based so she prays every morning as well.
What have I noticed she will miss out from  a public school? Lots of extra curricular activities! High schools have excellent magnet programs. I'm sure I could think of more but it's 3am and my brain is slowing down.
Private schools are far from perfect, as are public schools.
I have a relative who has a child with autism and that child has thrived tremendously in public schools in Miami. The parent could easily afford a private school there but had strong feelings against it.
Regardless of what you choose for your child, every parent I've known that has had success in raising kids all give me the same advice, "It all depends on how involved you are in your child's life."

We have good public schools where I am, I went to them and am very successful and well educated.

I made my decision regarding private vs public school a few years ago when I found myself 2 years younger than a coworker/friend, making almost the exact same pay. I went to public school and a public, state university. She went to private school and private university. Her parents spent over $100,000 more on her education than mine did and we ended up in the same place with the same job and the same salary. Now I make more than her, but I went on to get a Master's degree. I did get that from a private university because I got free tuition through my dad's employment, and I really didn't get much benefit from the smaller class size. In fact, I preferred the freedom of the large lectures in undergrad.

There definitely are places or children that benefit from private school, and every parent has the right to make that decision based on their own investigations, but I seriously doubt I'll be sending my kids there.

It really depends on the area you live in-I attended all private schools but the public ones were poorly rated. Now that I'm in a different state, all the public schools are top notch!

Yes because private schools don't use the same curriculum as public schools and I'd like to have a say in what my child is learning.... Honestly I wish I could just home school my kids, sadly I need to work.

Yes,  we will send our little guy to private school. We will do this because even though we live in a good neighborhood,  the public schools our address is districted to are very bad and ranked very poorly.
