Internal or external ultrasound?

I'm having my first ultrasound tomorrow, and we are really excited! I'll be 6w4d. As of 5w5d my hcg level was at 17,975 so that's why they decided we can do the ultrasound now rather than waiting til 9 weeks! Anyways, I'm curious for those that had early ultrasounds like this, was it an internal or external one?

It's highly unlikely that they will see anything externally. They almost always do it transvaginally that early.

At that early it will be transvaginal. You wouldn't see much with an abdominal scan at 6 weeks

My first ultrasound was at 10w5d and I had a transvaginal one. It was much better and I got to see baby goood :)

She tried an external ultrasound at 7 weeks but baby was too low so she ended up having to do a transvaginal. It's not bad.

I got a transvaginal when I went to the er the other day. They said they couldn't see it that great from outside.
