Do you think some parents are too caught up in trying to be unique in naming their kids that they don't really think about how the name really sounds or looks on paper?

I think if you have a very common/basic name like Ashley-- please don't botch the spelling to be creative. Either name her Ashley, or find an actual unique name. Don't name her Aeshleeighey. Please.

Yes. Sometimes when I see kids names on here I honestly wonder if the parents know how to spell or if they're just dumb. Also please think about when your kid is 45 years old and a potential businessperson it's not gonna be cute for them to have misspelled or shitty names.

It's pretty sad to me that every time I set up an appointment for one of my children they ask, "and how do you spell that?"

Uhm NATALIE, ANDREW, JULIAN, JEREMIAH.

I say, "you know, how it's supposed to be spelled..."

Yes. Times a million. They're like "I don't want him to have a name anyone will have in his class"

Well that's fine, but the name you're picking is going get him laughed at

Yes. And they try to make the spelling so different that most people can't even pronounce it when they look at it. They just don't think that this little person is going to be stuck with it the rest of their life.

Definitely. Your name doesn't make you unique. Some names and spelling are just plain cruel to do to a child.

Yes! Sometimes you just hear a name and think 'that poor child having to grow up with that name' I think we've all done it at some point

While its not a unique name really I regret almost everyday spelling my daughter's name Haylee.. Everybody spells it wrong and when she wants something like those little key chains or cups with her name on it-it's impossible to find ugh.
