What are you feeding your 8-9 month old?

Baby led weaning here. She takes bananas cut like French fries, sweet potatoes, sardines, buckwheat, broccoli, avocadoes, snap peas, all fruits. She loves brocolli and sardines like is nobody business. It's fun.

We have done cereal (Cheerios and fruit loops) and he loves bread and ice cream. I have him a banana for a snack the other day. I think it gives him really bad tummy bubbles tho. He gets so gassy if we give him those kinds of food.

From 6 months baby can have anything apart from honey and whole nuts. Just make sure veggies are steamed extra soft. Might be worth paediatric forst aid course so you can educate yourself on what to do should baby choke

We do baby led weaning (love it!) and I get so annoyed because if I'm not careful he shoves everything in his mouth at once and every few weeks he'll choke a little. I've never been in fear for his life, but have had to pull him out of his high chair and hold him so he could spit up the food. I would recommend all mothers should research what to do in case their lo chokes.

Oh my little guy eats anything and everything-- if we're eating it, so does he. He loves cheerios, chicken, pasta, mac and cheese, potatoes. Steamed veggies and ripe fruit (especially bananas and avocado). Yogurt, applesauce... Literally everything. He even likes spicy(ish) food!

Start small and work your way up; start mashing veggies instead of pureeing them. Then make the chunks larger until you're just breaking them up. Try cheerios; you'll be surprised! After some weight challenges, our guy has been eating them since month 5-- he loooves solids (was ebf until 4 months).

As always, make sure you know what to do should your little one struggle; take an infant CPR/ first aid class to make sure you're refreshed should anything go wrong (for your child and those around you regularly). Babies gag a lot, but they are designed to learn these things; they're surprisingly good at self-correcting. We had one tiny scare in the first two weeks of trying fruits, and a few solid pats on the back solved it without any problem. As long as you are informed and your baby is ready, just be confident!

How are you getting on now? I've been blending stuff that we have so that it's well chopped but not pureed. Yesterday he had chicken, potato, mange tout and sugar snap peas with some regular peas blended with milk and butter (I was going to puree them with natural yoghurt but didn't have any in). He ate loads! Now making cauliflower cheese with leeks so he'll get some of that with some other veggies whizzed up :)

My daughter turned 9 months yesterday and she has been eating pretty much what we eat, just in small pieces. It also depends on the baby and how well they chew/mash with their gums.
