"Jungle fever"
So, ever since I was in middle school I hated the phrase "jungle fever". Years later as an adult , I still hate the phrase, but atleast now I'm able to elaborate on why I think it's disrespectful. My bf and is white and I'm black. It pisses me off to hear his dad refer to my boyfriends love for me as jungle fever. To make it worse, I think it's sick how he has multiple biracial children but thinks it's okay to use the phrase all willy nilly (spell check.) I just feel like his family doesn't respect me because I am black. We've been dating for two years for goodness sakes. Stop calling me "that black girl." It's Diane damn it! Also, back to the who jungle fever phrase. I find it disrespectful due to the reason that there was a point in time where they would compare black people to animals such as monkeys and apes and make a mockery of them. Even back when Colonization took place in Africa, they referred to them as savages. I just can't .
