Doctors Appointment!

I had my first prenatal appointment yesterday.. and it was basically like a regular OB checkup. My doctor said he doesn't do ultrasounds until week 18! We were planning on announcing our pregnancy at the beginning of my second trimester with an ultrasound photo! Ugh. And he said we won't even hear the baby's heartbeat until my next appointment which is in five weeks. This appointment was supposed to make it real for us but if anything, I feel the same as before. And my doctor is pretty set in his ways, like it wasn't up for discussion to have an earlier ultrasound or to attempt to hear a heartbeat. :/

Anyone else super frustrated with their doctor like this?
