Answer pls I'm confused

Okay so last night I was quite itchy down there but I didn't have cottage cheese discharge so no yeast infection , I heard it could be BV ( bacterial vaginitis ) a mild infection you can treat over the counter .. What would happen if I used it but i didn't actually have BV ? Because today the itching wasnt really that bad
