Scented pacifiers?

So, I ordered 2 packs of the soothie pacifiers that my son loves off of Babies R Us. I just now realized when looking over my confirmation email that one of the packs that I ordered is vanilla scented. I did not know these even existed! After researching it says they help calm baby, but are they safe? Are they scented chemically?

I work in the pediatric ER, and we give those and lavender soothies out all the time. They are perfectly fine and safe! :)

I think they are safe. Made by avent. They hospitals even give them out. It's Susposed to be more soothing

I imagine they would be artificially scented. Either way, I would try to return or exchange them. I can't imagine that the fragrances are safe to consume. Baby's skin is so sensitive (especially on their face) that I would be very worried about allergic reactions to the fragrances used as well.

Similar to dog's chew toys, the material can be infused with smells and flavors. They are completely safe and a lot of fun for them. If you are still worried, bring the pacifiers to your doctor or a pediatrician.

I wouldnt use those. Scented is usually a bad idea. And I'm sure extra chemicals are used.

I was going to ask the same thing. Saw someone selling vanilla-scented pacifiers (they're also called "soothers?" right?....and I was like......wtf is that and why?

I've seen them. Mostly on teething pacifiers. Thought they were weird.

They use pure vanilla extract. Like we use in baking. Perfectly fine.

Someone just got these for me, I'm not using them. Just because the hospitals use them doesn't make it safe, it means they get them at a good price. They are always doing new research and u never know what they may find out in a few years. I prefer that my baby suck on less chemicals. I hardly want to give her a pacifier but I need something other than my boob. Just my thoughts
