What would you do?

Question

So say a friend told you that her mother is continuously abused by a man that she leaves and gets back with constantly. And to add to that has two young children that have gotten hurt before.

Say said friend told you not to say anything because she's not ready to do anything about it.

Could you sit there and do nothing like your friend wants you to, or go ahead and try to protect all involved. Especially the kids since the mother won't leave this man to protect them.

Just to add say you've been friends with this girl for almost two years and this has been happening for that whole time.

I'd definitely tell someone. Screw confidentiality. It's not just her life she's putting in danger, it's her children's lives as well.

If there are children getting hurt its your responsibility to tell someone. Their safety and wellbeing  comes before your friendship. By all means tell your friend what you're doing but by not telling authorities you are allowing those children to be abused. How would you feel if something seriously bad happened to them and you could have prevented it by telling someone sooner?
