What paint to use?

Hello! Recently I bought a hand-me-down crib from a close friend of mine. The worse marks on it are little sharpie marks - from a toddlers experiment phase - however my fiance has a bigger issue with it: the crib is white.

It doesn't make much sense, I know lol, but he hates "boring, plain ol' white". He wants to repaint it, which I am all for, however my issue is if the paint he picks is safe. So, does anyone have any suggestions on safe paint to use to redo a crib (i.e. lead free)?

Also if you have any DIY tips on this, feel free to add. Than you so much 💜

I used chalk paint for a dresser for baby. It was nice cuz all I had to do was sand down any rough spots, wipe it clean and paint right over the old paint without priming or anything. I believe it's safe for baby but you may want to check before you buy anything. The navy blue is the new paint. It turned out great! Looks brand new. I also resanded the wood grain and used a satin finish on it to seal. The second pic had a flash that's why it looks so different (even the flooring) lol but you get the picture 😊

Lol our crib is white and its a floor modle because it was the last one and we had to have it, and we love it because it's our perfect crib. But most paint should be safe because they think about your kids like eating paint off the walls or teething on the crib or tables or chairs.  This is our crib

Theres a really great brand free from all the toxic stuff, i think its called Lullaby paints or something?
