How did you find your obgyn??!!

This is my first pregnancy and I want to make sure I find a doctor I'm comfortable with and trust but I don't know where to start! How did all you ladies find your doc??

I just stuck with the one I've been going to for years for my yearly check ups. It made it easier since I know her and am comfortable there.

I had a sister and sil use the one I'm using.  The ob office is in the hospital I use as primary care, just different floor

My sister in law gave birth with him. Her boy was a preemie, she ended up on a different hospital than she was supposed to go to because of the NICU there. She had so good experience she said she wouldn't go to the originally chosen hospital again even though she works there as a doctor.

Your family doctor will refer you to an obyn.   Why not look into a midwife?  I have one for this baby and wish I had one for my first child too.

I had a referral for a OBGYN that my insurance pays for, but I hated him. So I switched to the OBGYN that delivered me and i meet him for the first time Wednesday. All his staff are great though! Very friendly.

We don't in the UK. We make an appointment with the midwife, they book you for your scan n make an appointment with the consultant. You just turn up when you're told! Lol

My mom actually found mine for me. My gynecologist before I got pregnant was a family friend and family doctor who I've been going to for any sickness since I was a kid, but she works in a small clinic and doesn't serve as a "pregnancy" doctor, so my mom found one for me a couple weeks after I got pregnant

I only recently moved to CA and not really knowing many people here I couldn't ask friends for recommendations. So I did some research into the local hospital systems and found one that has one of the lowest c-section rates in the area, a birth center in the hospital and a midwifery practice. Since those are all things I wanted, I chose that hospital and made an appointment w the midwives. Since they can't know ahead of time who will actually be on shift when you go into labor, they rotate your appointments so you meet a bunch of different midwives and so far I'm really comfortable w all of them.
