Taking prednisone in early pregnancy?

Does anyone have any experience taking prednisone early in pregnancy? I went to the hospital last night because I thought some of the poison ivy I had got infected. I told them repeatedly that I was about 4 or 5 weeks. The doctor prescribed me the pred and gave me the first dose there. I asked twice if they were sure it was okay and her exact words were "it is perfectly safe". Well I called my obgyn this morning before I got the rest of the prescription filled and she said they don't like giving it before 10 weeks. And she can't give me any guarantees that it will be fine. Now I'm freaking out, I had two miscarriages before this one and it took me a while to get pregnant again.

I was on it for an immune issue, to try to drop my immune system so it didn't attack the fetus, from day one until about twelve weeks. One of my doctors wanted me to stay in for the first 24 weeks, the other was ready for me to lower the doses and stop at 12 weeks. Both agreed it was necessary for my pregnancy. When I took it, the higher doses packed on weight. When I stopped my weight did not increase for weeks- doctor said that was to be expected. Be prepared for the weight gain and lack of sleep. We were advised I should take it by nine every morning in order to sleep at night. I will say I was not very tired the first trimester.

I have taken prednisone for chrohns disease from day go of my pregnancy at high dose im 10 wks and fine. I couldnt stay on my current meds as its too flared up right now needing steriod treatment. Honestly i wouldnt worry

I have a prescription for prednisone for my asthma and I basically have to take it as needed if I have flare ups that can't be managed with my usually treatment but for me it's more important to breathe than risk a little steroid use. Idk about the risk over hives or something like that. But u shouldn't worry too much

I took prednisone the 1st 4 weeks of pregnancy due to hives breakout. I'm almost 15 weeks now and everything seems fine. My ob told me not to freak out and that baby would be ok. So far so good
