Faking Orgasms

So I recently told my significant other that I had been faking orgasms. I was not trying to be hurtful in any way but, truth is, it's very hard or even impossible for me to reach climax through sexual intercourse. The reason I do this is because I want sex to be exciting and pleasing for my partner but I realized in the long run I was just causing more harm than good. So the question is, does anyone have helpful tips to make intercourse as exciting as it can be and have any of you faked orgasms and admitted it and how did your partner take it?
