Preeclampsia anyone?

My blood pressure has been a little high with both pregnancies but would always come down after resting or laying down. At my regular appt today it stayed around 134/92 even during my NST laying down for about 30 minutes. They sent me to the lab for blood work and urine testing. I know the urine testing is for protein but what's the blood work for? Does anyone know what maybe the next step would be if it is positive for protein? I didn't think my BP was that extremely high to cause a concern. My doc said she would call tomorrow with the results. I would have just asked her these questions but it was after 5:00 and I had to pick up my other child.

The blood work is for your kidney and liver functions. They're looking to see if your platelets are low, and I'm not sure what the liver functions are specifically but I know that high is bad. They're trying to rule out HELLP syndrome, which is even worse than preeclampsia.

I'm being induced on Wednesday at 37 weeks for preeclampsia. This is my 3rd baby but first time to have preeclampsia. I didn't develop symptoms until 35 weeks. My first signs were really really bad swollen feet and ankles. Actually pitting edema and over the next week my hands and face started swelling too. Then when I went to the Dr my blood pressure was 144/87 and my Dr was concerned so she ordered lab work and a 24 hour urine catch. She also ordered that I go on strict bedrest, only bathroom, bed or couch. I came back 2 days later with my urine and was sent straight to the hospital because my blood pressure was 160/99. I stayed at the hospital until my bp stabilized. That day my Dr decided to schedule my induction for Wed @ 37 weeks exactly. I went in today for my last check up and my bp was 159/102 and I was sent for a NST and back home to rest up till Wednesday. It's helpful to check your blood pressures at home as well so you can make sure that it's not getting too high. I hope you don't have it!

I was doing just fine up until today when my BP was suddenly like 166/96. I'd had a headache since yesterday morning (still do now actually) and the last few days I've been horribly exhausted. Now we're waiting on the blood results which will tell us for sure. He already mentioned possible induction. My mom had really bad pre-eclampsia with me so I kind of saw this coming. 34.1 weeks 😟

It will depend how much protein is in your urine. If it's a lot you will either be induced or have csection. That is what happened to me with my first and almost happened yesterday with my 3rd now I'm on bedrest pending another 24hr urine test I'm suppose to start tomorrow

I just finished my second 24 hour urine. My first i had 500 something in protein so i was diagnosed with preclamsia. I go tomorrow to find out if protien is up. My bp hasnt been super high but high for me. Its normally 119/78 now is staying in the 140s/high 80s. My dr told me had i been closer to 36 37 weeks with my last urine being at 500 she would of induced that day. I have had steriod injections and am being closely monitored. Blood work is to check liver funtion. Im having blood drawn a couple times a week. I also will have an hour long sono tomorrow im guessing to see how developed the baby is. We are preparing to be induced either tomorrow or next week for sure.

I've done three 24 hr urine test already with two hospital stays (frustrating might I add) I havesome  protein in my urine, but not the amount for preeclampsia. I also have had elevated bp..they gave me Meds for it. If yours is positive they will give you steroid shots for the baby lungs just in case they need to take the baby early.... Good luck hunnie that you don't have it.
