Would you stay the night away from home at 36 weeks?

Due date July 30, debating going to see some family and friends over the 4th. It's about a 3hr drive. We could go up and back the same day but might not be able to see everyone, but I'm really nervous to go in to labor away from home! No signs that this baby is going to come any earlier than the due date (but seriously who knows).

My doctor advised me against traveling for longer than 2 hours away from the hospital after 34 weeks, but I also can't stand being in a car longer than 45 minutes, so I had no problem with that. It really depends on how YOU feel.

See if you can get an appointment right before the trip to see if you're dilated. If not and you're feeling well enough to go, and you have a sober driver at all times who could drive you in case you go into labor, I would go. Just listen to your body, if you start to feel funky or contractions starting then it might be time to head home.

My husband and I are going to try to get away 4th of July weekend as sort of a last hurrah before baby comes. We were going to go to Chicago (about 5 hours away) but I think we will stay closer to home now! I'm too nervous to be that far away.

I'm due July 18th and my husband and I took our last weekend away in the mtns, were about 3 hours away and higher altitude, it's all good. But I haven't had any issues so far, so take your own body into consideration

I would say it should be fine. Ask your doctor to be safe. I visit my mother every weekend but that's only an hour drive but I sometimes drive myself which drives everyone nuts they think ill go into labor driving lol

I did and both me and baby are totally fine. I took a 2 hour flight for work and spent 4 days and 3 nights away from home before flying back. Ask your dr for their opinion, but ultimately it's your choice

I would see how you're feeling when it gets closer to the 4th. MOST women don't have a baby in 3 hours.. Haha but you never know. Maybe see how your last exam goes.. If your cervix is soft... Dialated etc.

I went to see my family for the weekend and they live 2 hours away. 3 isn't that bad. It's really up to you :)

I say if you feel good then I would! I'm going on a trip 3 hrs away for my husbands family reunion this time around my blood pressure has finally leveled out and I haven't had swelling like I usually do! Then the following weekend we are going to my grandpas memorial 6 hrs away. Last time they scheduled my csection I wasn't close to having my kid so I'm sure I'll be fine I'll be 37 weeks on both trips. My csection is scheduled for 39 weeks
