Anyone having a California baby?

I've only been to California once (in the summer), so I don't really know what the weather is like always. My husband is from Rancho Cucamonga (about 30 miles east of LA), and we unexpectedly have to move in with his family, like, right now. Our baby is due in September, so we're trying to buy her some clothes now, but I don't know what to get, and he just doesn't seem confident in how much a baby should wear. Haha. 
I had it all sorted out for Idaho weather (she'd need lots of fleece in the 3-6 month size, more lightweight stuff for 6-9 months etc.), but now I don't know what she'll need. Do California babies still need fleece at some point? Does it get that cold?
Gosh, I sound like an idiot. Haha. But I really need help...

It doesn't get cold here till way later like November/December.. summer is just starting here so i would say you don't really need fleece.. onesies for sure.. and if you're moving NOW NOW .. make sure you have some fresh summer dresses cause you will die in jeans here

Los Angeles here. I plan on doing with this one what I did with our first... lots and lots of onesies and sleep n plays. The heaviest thing we had for our first was a hoodie, she was also born in September. It doesn't usually get uncomfortably cool... at least nothing a blanket or thin long sleeve couldn't handle. I'm  obviously assuming you won't be taking baby out in any extremes, but for home think light.

California born and bred here! Trust me it's still hot here in September.  Last year we didn't have any cool weather until about Jan/Feb.

I live 20 miles from where you will be. The coldest it gets is usually in Late January early February and it can get down to the high 30s or low 40s in the middle of the night. During the day I would expect temps to be in the high 50s or low 60s. If it rains, it's usually warms up a little and the temp is in the mid 60s. Long sleeves and pants with a jacket or blanket when you are out should be just fine.  Welcome to So Cal! 🌞☀️

It gets cold here around November and can last until around January. It seems to rain after Halloween sometimes but that's here in NorCal.

I'm due in September, too and plan on my son's 3month clothes to be long sleeves and pants.

My husband and I actually lived in Rancho Cucamonga right after we got married (2009) When we first got there in August it was extremely warm (low 100's a lot of days).  The heat is dry, not humid, but you still feel it quite a bit.  September and October were fairly warm too, but for us the winter was very mild.  I am from Indiana and my husband is from Iowa, so we are used to brutal winters and the California winters were nothing (temperature-wise) to us.  It did rain a lot during the winter months, but I don't think it ever got below 55 degrees.  To people in California that is cold (wherever we went there were lots of people with scarves, coats, boots, etc...), but we honestly never wore more than a regular jacket (never bought a winter coat or wore a hat and scarf out there) I would definitely dress the baby in layers during the fall and winter and definitely have some summerish types of clothes and onesies for when the baby is first born.

Your best bet is to get white onesies and layer. Seriously, it'll save you. Then when it gets warm you can take layers off if you need to. That's the best way, so cal is really bipolar on weather sometimes. It's mostly beautiful, a warm summer that fades by October, but it's rare to get snow in so cal. Maybe once or twice a year where I lived.

Honestly it depends where in California you're going to be. I grew up in Southern California near the beach so the weather was fairly consistent through the whole year, we got maybe 10-15 degrees hotter during the summer. Near the water, it doesn't get so bad, but if you're going to be inland or near the desert it might be fairly hot.
