IVF meds -- insurance question

IVF treatment is not covered under my health insurance.  However today I went to fill my birth control pills for the start of my first IVF cycle and the pharmacist did a test run on Gonal F and it says that it may be covered with prior authorization from my RE.  Has anyone been in the same boat?  My insurance is closed right now so won't be able to talk to them til Monday.   Has anyone had IVF not covered but meds are covered?
