Crib Bedding Sets Necessary??

Question

So I'm pre-planning decorating the nursery and trying to decide on a crib bedding set so I can plan how else to decorate the room. After looking and looking, I'm not seeing anything I'm crazy about and for the price!

I'm thinking most of the items in the set, I wouldn't even use. Sure, they make a picture look great but I just wouldn't use the little quilt/blanket, the diaper bag storage thing, the crib bumpers, crib mobile. So pretty much just the sheets and sometimes they come with a couple of wall decorations. So why buy the bedding sets?? Your thoughts???

Would you just buy a color scheme of sheets and wall decoration?

All you need is a crib skirt and fitted sheet. You won't use blankets at all the first year because of the risk of SIDS. And definitely don't waste money on bumpers either.

Nooooo! This has been my biggest frustration while planning my nursery. I refuse to pay crazy amounts for a set of bedding for a tiny human. I found a crib sheet and crib skirt and an adorable blanket on Amazon all for under 100 bucks! Love it way more than any bedding set I've seen!!!

I'm going with prints and solids. I don't like any of the baby cartoon bedding. And the solids and prints will last longer. Something like this picture.

People buy the sets & go all out because they like decorating & everything matching. I never have just because they grow so quick & all that stuff is just so expensive. With my first 2 we had a mobile...which didn't really get used & then a few crib sheets & mattress protector. This time the only way I will buy sets or the unnecessary items is if I find them at a garage sale, in good condition, for a good price.

I had the whole set and would say it is not worth it. She grew so fast that it was like we had a baby room and she was a big girl. The wall decals were my favorite and they made a big difference. I sold it to once upon a child when we were done but they only gave me a few bucks.

So much of it is a waste. Im just doing a quilt and matching sheets. Possibly a mobile.

I have only bought 2 bigger crib size blankets and some smaller blankets (all in the same theme, jungle) and I'm not doing a full crib set. Just going to buy some regular sheets and some sheets that go with the theme. Since babies do tend to have accidents and you have to change the sheets regardless.
