What was your childhood like?

How was your childhood? For me by the age of 8 or 9 I was out with my friends all day during the summer, building forts, riding bikes, making lemonade stands at the park, meeting random kids, playing by the creek or river, exploring.... ALL ALONE. No cell phones No parental vision. My parents expected us home by sundown which we always were. This is how most of my childhood was, this is how my parents childhood was as well. Was yours similar? Or was my parents just really bad parents?
