Telling the parents

My fiancé and I shared the news with my parents tonight and it went terribly. My mother shook her head and cried and my stepdad screamed and walked away (and he is the level headed one in our family). My mom eventually apologized and started to come around by the end of the evening, but my stepdad (who is the best father figure I have ever had) said nothing to me the rest of the night. So much for sharing our excitement with the family 😔
