How bad does breastfeeding hurt?

I was so excited to breastfeed but all I ever see on here is how painful and hard it is. Now I'm just scared. Is it really that bad?

Breastfeeding done right does it hurt. Again, breastfeeding done right does not hurt.

The first 2-4 weeks are the hardest. You are healing from delivery, you're tired, you feel like a cow, etc. What ACTUALLY hurts is your nipples cracking and drying out, or the baby's latch is wrong. Both of those can be fixed pretty quickly and you should not longer be in pain. Breastfeeding should not hurt! A very small percentage of women do actually feel physical pain, but this is not the norm. After the first month, you will be smoothe sailing. This does not mean you won't have hiccups along the way, but nothing like that first 2-4 weeks.

It doesn't hurt at all if the latch it correct. The nipples will be sensitive at first but not "painful" if the latch is right x

I know people that hurt to breastfeed and others that made them horny. Me personally it hurts not to breastfeed, all I want is that milk out of me and when I'm not feeding my baby I'm usually pumping and freezing it. It really is something that you have to figure out for your self. :)

Its not bad! And if you rub the milk on your nipples every time and let it dry there, it helps a lot. It only hurt for the first few weeks maybe, if that. I breastfed over a year with no issues!

It hurts at first but nothing you can't deal with after just having a baby! Lol. A heart pump hurts a lot worse

People say it do ppl say it don't, I also think it depends on how sensitive you are as well honestly! When I did it my breast always seemed sore, sometimes it hurted more when he was latched on wrong but it all depends. It do get easier the more you do it but again I think it depends on your level of sensitivity.

Agree with these ladies.    However, I was uninstructed, and my first two weeks of BFing was pure agony.   I wish I had been coached right from the start!!!
