Positive group b strep test

I was having some symptoms of a UTI so my midwife issued a urinalysis to see what was up. It came back positive for the group b strep so she sent in a prescription antibiotic to clear it up. I'm only 16 weeks and am nervous about taking any medicine even if it's deemed safe, although I know letting the infection linger is worse. Just wondering if anyone else was treated for this so early on? I always read people took the antibiotic the last few weeks before delivering.
