IUD or Nexplanon?

Which do you have? Any stories and any advice? I'm indecisive. Thank you

I'm on Nexplanon and it's very effective. My PMS is all gone, no change in sex drive, no cramps, and I have my normal energy level! I've had it for almost 2 months now.

Only issue is the light bleeding for 3 weeks so far, which if does not regulate, I will have to get birth control pills to stop the bleeding for good.

I use a menstrual cup, so I am comfy.

Have you had children? My friend wen through the process of getting measured for an IUD and she said it was the most painful thing she'd even gone through. Her Gyno later told her that the pain was because she'd never had kids and it's normal when they measure the cervix.

A friend of a friend had to have her IUD surgically removed. She was 22 and a mother of two. The IUD had gotten embedded in her cervical lining and her Gyno couldn't remove it in the office. Had the surgery not worked, they told her she would've needed to get a hysterectomy..

I have the nexplanon and am actually getting it removed this afternoon. I've gained 14 pounds and serious acne that I've never had before. considering gettin the paraguard iud. that being said, maybe nexplanon will work better for you

I have paragard iud and absolutely love it. Insertion did hurt, but 30 seconds of pain for 10 years of protection is a nice trade off. Had it for a year and a half and have gotten two of my friends to switch from pills to mirena because they were so bad at keeping a schedule

They both can have good outcome! It just depends of how your body reacts toward these birth control.

Mines just healed. And it's healed soooo well. The first few days my emotions were a little crazy but a week later I feel great. I'll let you know if anything actually begins to change xx

I have the nexplanon and have had no problems so far. It hasnt traveled or caused problems. Im very happy with it :)

I had a bad experience with IUDs twice, I have never had kids. Getting it put in was painful but fast. The first time it was misplaced and embedding into the wall of my vagina, it started to fall down.  When they went to remove it in the ER (had horrible pains out of no where and I couldn't even stand up) they did an ultrastound and I had a huge cyst that I ended up having to have surgically removed. I don't think the cyst had to do with the iud. They found beginnings of endometriosis while in there :( Anyways after that experience I found a new doc and he convinced me to try again so I did. That time I had intense painful stabbings every month around my period. They would be super sudden and sharp and last about 30 seconds. I would get hot and couldn't even speak when experiencing them. I obviously had it removed after 6 months. They kept saying give it time but I couldn't take it anymore. With that said, I have multiple female problems so my case may be rate. I've heard they are amazing for other women and it is really nice not having to take a pill. Talk to your doc and ask questions and concerns. Worst case you don't like either one and have it removed :). It's not permanent.

I love nexplanon. so safe and easy. of course, like any medicine, it differs between people and talking to your doctor helps a ton :)
