So i got a new puppy and were trying to figure out the best way to train him

Do you agree with confinement until they're fully trained? My husband and i read this and it sounds perfect for us as our little terrier is very destructive and pees EVERYWHERE... We plan to get a metal play pen and board off a good space of the main living room for sleep, puppy pads and a few soft toys and only take him from it for interaction, grooming/bathing, walks and potty breaks. What is your opinion? Id feel a bit bad though if he kept staring out at me crying to run free so im in two minds. He is a teacup yorkie, 10 weeks old.
