How often should you have bloods checked?

I see a lot of people talking about their HCG level, I went to my GP to tell them I'd done a home test and it was positive. No bloods or anything done - I'm due 26th Feb. How often should we be getting blood checked?

I haven't had any blood checked and it's terrifying! My doc won't do anything until my 8 week appt! So just patiently waiting hahaa but it is hard with people on here always posting their tests! But positive and healthy vibes to everyone for a healthy babe!

I haven't gotten bloods done. I'm 7 weeks and my first appointment isn't until 9 weeks.

Yeah, totally not necessary or the norm. I got blood tests because I see a fertility and jay finished my first cycle of clomid so they tend to monitor more closely. I also had a miscarriage back in February.  You have to realize that it SEEMS like lots of people are getting these done, but it's only because they tend to post more when they do.

Only really necessary for prior history/higher risk. I would expect a blood test for confirmation but that's about it for uncomplicated first pregnancy. If you don't need to be a pin cushion then you're doing well 😊

Getting hcg checked, especially multiple times, is usually for people who have past issues or are high risk. I've had an ectopic and a miscarriage, so I'm in there all the damn time! You'll be fine without lots of tests. ☺️

I went to my gp and only got my HCG checked once. He wasn't going to tell me the level at all and I peeked and it was only 73.

Everyone here seemed to have two or more levels to compare! So I got really worried and called my OB...

Apparently it's common that they don't check it or only check it once. I was so worried that my OB told me to come in to set my mind at ease. She was going to order another HCG to check (but we did a US and there was a heartbeat so I didn't worry about HCG so much!)
