One side or both?

Question

For the first 3 months when I nursed I would burp her in the middle and switch breasts. Since she was spitting up less, I stopped burping her in the middle of feeds and she would only nurse 1 breast and be full. Since doing this, my supply has dramatically gone down. Is it better to feed from both sides, or from 1 breast? I just thought it was very bizarre and now trying to go back to switching her during sessions. What are your thoughts ?

I used to feed my son on both. Then after a while I noticed he would start getting full on one. So what I do now is while he is feeding on one side, I pump the other side while he is feeding. & drink plenty of water throughout the day helps too.

I started with feeding both sides, my midwife called the first side dinner and the second was dessert. So it didn't matter if she didn't want dessert but it's good to offer. She said its more important that they fully finish the first dude though. It helps you avoid mastitis, and the composition of your milk changes through the feed so it's beneficial for bubs to get the hind milk. 
My baby is 5 weeks old and 90% of the time she won't have her 'dessert' so I'm pretty much only feeding off one side per feed now.

I've never not nursed from both sides, I didn't even know it was a thing to only do one side until I was on this app. That would be way to much work for me because my other would be engorged and I only pumped the first couple of months and non since.
