Ginger Snap???

Question

So I was out to eat with one of my teacher friends and my mother-in-law last night. My mother-in-law started talking about how she wants our baby to have red hair like my nieces who are 4 & 2 and both redheads. It's genetically improbable for my husband and I to have a red head. 
My teacher friend told us that teachers have a common phrase "ginger snaps" for redheads, because "in general red headed children are more prone to acting out".
Now I've read the "Gingers have no soul" comments on the internet, but I never heard a bias like this in real life.
Is this a wide spread ideology among teachers?

I mean it's along the lines of "blondes have more fun" or "blondes are ditzy". I wouldn't take it to heart, as they're just generalizations

I teach music (not at a school... After school) and I don't subscribe to this belief at all. All children are different and can't necessarily be categorized in this way.

My husband is a teacher and of the kids he's  told me he knew would be trouble or are right pains in the butt, none of it had to do with their hair colour.

I'm a teacher and bad behavior is not correlated to hair color...I've never heard that phrase either.

I've never heard that from a teachers stand point, but in college all my friends called me Gingersnap. As a kid I was so quiet and NEVER got in trouble, so that teacher's generalization would not have applied to me.

I've heard that too. My sisters husband and all 3 of her kids are gingers and they're just like any other kid. Of course they still make the ginger jokes, but that's all they are... Jokes
