Dogs Owners - Preparing Puppy
Hey Ladies!
I'm due with our first baby in September. We have a dog (a big one at that) who will be 1.5 years by then. What are some things you have done to prepare your pooches? He is very sensitive so I know the change in his routine will throw him for a while. Some of the things I have though of/seen already:
- play baby cry noises now so he is used to them
-send dad home with a blanket before we come home so he can get used to the smell
-bring in/setup new pieces of furniture in slowly so he can explore them
Someone suggested sending him to puppy day care/overnight care when the baby first comes home but since we don't normally do that I'm wondering if that would make him feel "replaced" by the baby.
I'm hoping if the delivery goes well we can do lots of walks with him and the baby so he still feels very included.
