Choking on spit up...scared mommy

The scariest thing happened early this morning. My 6 week old was asleep in her bassinet next to our bed and she had started to stir (it was almost time for her next feeding) but I was waiting till she woke herself up because sometimes she stirs and goes back to sleep. She got really quiet and when I leaned over to check on her she has gone completely rigid. She was on her side, back arched, head tilted WAY back and she was choking. My husband and I pulled her out and began using her bulb syringe. She had choked on her own spit up that was coming out of her mouth and nose. This happened three hours after she had eaten. She is ok now, but this is the second time this has happened. The first time was during the day, so of course now I'm terrified about night time. I feel like this isn't normal and I don't know if I should take her in to see her pediatrician.
