Up your milk supply?

Question

How did you other mommy's increase your milk supply? I'm pumping right now because my baby has a tongue tie and can't latch. I'm only getting about 4-5 ounces about every 6 hours. What do I do? I don't want to stop breastfeeding yet but if I run dry I have no choice :(

The lactation consultant at my doctor told me to try power pumping. You take an hour out of your day, sit down with your pump, start off by pumping for 20 mins. Then rest for 10 mins. For the remainder of the hour just alternate 10 mind pumping 10 mins resting. She said it simulates when a baby cluster feeds on the breast sending signals to your body to produce more milk.  She also said to continue pumping for 5 mins after your milk stops flowing during a normal pump session because that as well sends those signals that you need to produce more. I'm going through the same situation with my little guy. Hope this helps.

Don't skimp on calories, you need an extra 500 or so healthy calories (high protein and calcium foods). Also, plenty of water. I agree with the other poster about lots of pumping.

I've been using the Honest breastfeeding supplement and added another dose of Fenugreek (because the Honest blend is a little in the low side for my body).  Good luck
