When to go to the hospital

Hey Ladies, i was wondering if any of you can help with leting me when is the best time to go to the hospital once the contractions start.. Is it when the contractions are 5 minutes apart?
I dont want to go when it's still early (that's my first baby)

The general rule is 5-1-1. Contractions 5 minutes apart lasting 1 one minute for 1 hour.

We were told when the contractions are 5 minutes apart (from the start of one contraction to the beginning of the next),  last at least a minute each and have been that close for an hour. Otherwise they send us back home.

In the UK they tell you 3 contractions in 10 minute period, lasting over a minute each. 
 
But also depends on pain threshold and if your coping and how far from hospital you are. I've heard there are more and more unplanned home births because they will send women home and tell them to come back later then labour progressed quick! 😳

I had my birth class this weekend and she said generally it is the 5-1-1 rule. Contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting for 1 minute for at least 1 hour. If you live further away from the hospital and it will take you an hour just to get there, then leave when you can not talk through the contractions. At least this is what I was told 😊
