Question from a nervous breastfeeding first time mom to be

A

I have a question for the breastfeeding mom's out there.

I want to start by saying mad respect for any woman who can feed their baby whereever and whenever without being self conscious.

I'm nervous about getting scowled at or verbally attacked when I need to nurse in public even though I plan to use a cover (It'd make me feel the most comfortable being able to reduce the staring). You hear so many horror stories of women getting harassed in public places by security, employees, strangers for feeding their baby and I wanted to know if women had experienced such things while feeding covered? I wondered if it was women feeding uncovered that got more retaliation than women that do choose to cover. Nothing wrong with whatever works best for you! I am all for normalizing breastfeeding in public and feel it is a real issue right now... Just as a new mom I don't really feel confident enough being the front line of normalization... I know I shouldn't be scared or self conscious doing the best I can for my baby, I'm just scared I won't have the dedication to continue nursing in public if I get shamed and embarrassed for it... Sounds silly and pathetic I know. I'm just nervous.

Stories on experiences would be appreciated, help put a paranoid mom to be at ease...
