Can't find someone who will commit
I'm a 29 year old single woman. I'm generally happy with my life and career and I have a strong network of friends, but I haven't had a boyfriend for five years (ever since I moved to a major city). I get asked out frequently and have dated quite a bit, but none of the guys I've hit it off with have ever wanted to commit to only dating me. I tried an open relationship with someone for about a year and a half (I loved him but he wouldn't commit) and I've realized I'm just a monogamous person. I don't enjoy dating multiple people for extended periods of time at once, and I don't understand why I keep running into this issue. It seems like most of these guys just want to hook up with multiple women all the time, and I want something more meaningful. I just got hurt again by someone who was treating me well, spending a lot of time with me, and seemed to have potential, but he blindsided me when he canceled plans to hang out with another girl and said he never wanted to commit.
I'm not desperate to get married or just settle for someone out of loneliness. I want someone to share the cool life I've created for myself with. I just don't understand why my heart keeps getting broken from so many people who have that attitude. I've tried multiple dating sites, blind dates with friends of friends, etc but nothing's worked. Any thoughts? (Side note: I am a full-time stand up comedian - very male-dominated industry- and I wonder if that's a deterrent somehow.)
